AKUMAL BREAKERS

Akumal is unlike any other place on earth!

View of South Akumal Beach from Akumal Bay

The Mayans named it “place of the turtles.”  Locals call it their ancestor’s secret.  Scuba divers call it unbelievable and travelers call it a Caribbean paradise. In fact, Trip Advisor users voted it one of the top 25 beaches in the world!

Once you visit, you will likely tell your friends that you went snorkeling with turtles in Akumal Bay.  You will probably tell them you went kayaking, fishing or scuba diving in the Caribbean.  You might tell them you played a top rated golf course or dined at one of many excellent restaurants in the area.  Some of you will talk about the archeological treasures you visited or how you ziplined through the jungle and then snorkeled in an underground spring called a cenote.

You will show them pictures of the beach villa where you stayed and attempt to describe the natural beauty of this paradise. You will certainly talk about the truly warm people that make this place so mesmerizing and …

…after visiting, you will most likely tell everyone…“I Love Akumal!”

Long considered the jewel of the Rivera Maya, Akumal is located in the heart of the Riviera Maya on Mexico’s Caribbean Sea just across from Cozumel. This small beach village has the feel of “Old Mexico” and is conveniently located one hour south of the world class Cancun airport….yet comfortably removed. It is about 20 minutes south of Playa Del Carmen and 20 minutes north of Tulum.

You can begin your Akumal dream vacation today by reserving our beachfront villa located on the exclusive South Akumal Beach. The villa is conveniently located directly across the highway from the Tulum Country Club featuring the PGA Riviera Maya Golf Course.

Amazing stay in Akumal!

Our family had an amazing stay at Akumal Breakers over New Year’s! The home is in safe neighborhood (with a gate guard) right on the beach! Our family all had plenty of room to spread out and enjoyed the pool and playing in the ocean just a few steps away. The house has a couple paddle boards and kayaks to use and the coral reef was a great place to snorkel! Definitely suggest bringing water socks to make walking out in the ocean easier. We grabbed a couple masks in town, didn’t need flippers. Tulum was about 20 min away. We spent a day having lunch there and visiting a few of the cenotes, highly recommend.

I can’t say enough about Lunda, the property manager! She was so organized and helpful, sending us lots of info about the property, things to do, and helpful hints for traveling to the area. She really went above and beyond to make the trip for our family special! The caretakers, Luis and Mirna, were there daily to clean and prepare some meals. We were told they give amazing massages but our trip was cut short and we didn’t have the time to enjoy. Next visit! I would highly recommend this property for a family. Great place to play and relax in the sun while having quiet and privacy away from town!

Villa is beautiful and exactly as pictured and described. Beachfront perfect for relaxing. Loved using the paddle boards and kayaks. Bring snorkel gear, see tons of fish and sting rays. Water shoes are a must, the water entry is very rocky/coral. If you want a really hot shower, use the outdoor. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Rooms very spacious. Kitchen had everything we needed for food and cocktail prep. All showers had shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel dispensers. Would love to return!

We really enjoyed our stay! The area felt VERY safe (security was unobtrusively patrolling the beach and the guards at the gate were very attentive) and we really enjoyed hanging out on the property- both the shaded areas and sunny areas! Buena Vida (a short drive) and Jungle Fish (walking distance for lunch or early dinner) were our favorite restaurants. The beach area in front of the house was the prettiest and had the least amount of seaweed. Several guests from nearby hotels would walk over and set up on the beach in front of the house, so be sure to bring the lounge chairs down to the beach early in the morning to “reserve” your space. Would definitely rent this house again!
